Help us build the SENguru that parents actually need.
The short version
SENguru is built around what parents say is missing. Anyone โ paid or free, signed in or not โ can propose a feature and vote on what other people have proposed. The proposals with the most support get picked up first. Participation is, and always will be, free.
1. Propose a feature
Every proposal lives as a public issue on our GitHub tracker, where it stays visible, dated and traceable. To propose a feature today:
- Open a new issue at github.com/chrisgilbert/sen-guru/issues/new.
- Use the title format "Feature: <one-line summary>".
- In the body, describe the problem you're trying to solve, what you'd like to see, and (if you can) why the existing tools don't already cover it.
Don't have a GitHub account? Email the same information to hello@senguru.co.uk and we will open the issue on your behalf, crediting you.
2. Vote on proposals
You can browse every open feature request at github.com/chrisgilbert/sen-guru/issues. Add a ๐ reaction to anything you'd find useful โ that thumbs-up is your vote. Comments add context and signal too, but the headline metric is the count of distinct supporters.
Voting is open to everyone, not just paying users. The thumbs-up reaction makes it cheap to express support without writing a comment, which keeps the signal honest.
3. Approved proposals get prototyped
Once a proposal has crossed a clear threshold (and isn't blocked by safety, privacy or legal concerns), we will prototype it in a separate test version of SENguru. The plan is for that prototype to deploy automatically off a feature branch so participants can try it before it hits the main site, and feed back before anything is permanent.
We're being honest that the auto-prototype pipeline isn't fully built yet. The longer-term plan โ including in-app voting (so it doesn't depend on a GitHub account), staging deployments, and moderation โ lives in the participate plan. The follow-up issues you'll find on GitHub track each step.
What we won't accept
Proposals that ask us to weaken privacy, gate statutory rights behind paywalls, or surface advertising are out of scope on principle. Everything else is fair game โ including ideas we've already turned down before, if circumstances have changed.
Other ways to help
- Try the tool on your real case and tell us what's broken. Bug reports are as welcome as feature requests.
- Share an anonymised draft EHCP once the anonymiser pipeline lands (tracked separately) โ it makes the AI review better for everyone.
- Spread the word in parent groups, SEND networks and forums. Other parents finding SENguru when they need it is the single most valuable thing.
