You're at the Initial Concerns stage. Start by gathering evidence of your child's difficulties.
I want to ask the LA for an EHC needs assessment
You're ready to Request an Assessment. Use our template letter and evidence checklist.
The LA refused to assess my child
You can appeal this decision to the SEND Tribunal. You do NOT need mediation first for this type of appeal.
My child is being assessed / I've received a draft EHCP
You're at the Assessment or Draft EHCP stage. Key deadlines apply.
My child has an EHCP but it's not working
You may need to request an Annual Review or make a Formal Complaint.
I want to appeal to the SEND Tribunal
Appeals are free. You have 2 months from the LA's decision. For Section B/F/I appeals you must contact a mediation adviser first (but don't have to mediate).
