Formal request letter to the LA

Send your request in writing (email AND recorded delivery). Use the template letter provided in SENguru.

Evidence of special educational needs

Include all professional reports, school assessments, and your own observations of your child's difficulties.

Evidence current support is insufficient

Document what support has been provided (SEN Support, IEP) and why it has not met your child's needs.

Statement of impact on education

Describe how your child's difficulties affect their access to education, social development, and daily life at school.

Proof of delivery to LA

Keep the recorded delivery receipt and/or email confirmation. Note the exact date the LA received your request.
